Museum From the history of the Grodno Jews was founded in 2012. It was founded to start the restaurant of the Great Synagogue Choral, where and there is a museum.
The Museum occupies two small rooms. He became the center of the collection of information about Jews – born in the Grodno region: industrialists, state and social activists, cultural activists – poets, painters, writers. Museum exhibits reflect the history of the first and third presidents of Israel, the painter L. Baksta, the hero of the Resistance in the war years Lizy Czapnik, the outstanding scientist Feliks Zandman and many others. The permanent exhibition covers the theme of the European catastrophe, including Grodno, Judaism in the war years, a special chapter of permanent exhibition dedicated to the Righteous Among the Nations, who rescued Grodno children persecuted by the Nazis. Museum collections – stories of Grodno Ghetto prisoners and Nazi camps, memo books, audio- and video-telling witnesses of these tragic days. The museum is full of memories and things related to the life of Gregory Chosid. The last resident of Grodno, a prisoner of the ghetto, died in 2013, and his unique videotapes have been preserved for descendants for years. For students of the city’s schools, the Holocaust lessons take place in the walls of the museum.
Gradually we find what needs to be found and does not have to be remembered. At present, work is being done in the national historical archive of the city after creating a block of materials devoted to the religious life of the Jewish people in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
