The museum collection Metal began to form in 1975 (Icon. St. Nicholas The Wonderworker. Copper, casting. Russian Empire, 19th century). The structure of the museum’s collection consists of arts and crafts of different confessions, made of different metals: cult utensils, cast copper and bronze icons, crosses, foldings and it’s fragments; bells and chimes; easel sculpture and small sculptures; boards for engravings; silver jewelry. Part of the museum’s collection consists of items of folk life (axes, weights, scissors, keys, locks, etc.), which were used in folk and family calendar-agrarian rituals. The most valuable museum objects in the museum’s collection are:
- Akvamanil (Aquarius). Northern Germany, 13th century;
- The medium part of Christian medallions with snake composition. Kiev, early 13th century;
- Blessing of the waters bowl. Warsaw, 1st quarter of 19th century;
- Floor candlestick. Belarus, 18th century;
- Snuffbox. Prussia, 1846. And others.
As of 01.07.2024, the museum collection Metal consists of 1452 objects of the main museum fund and 265 objects of scientific and auxiliary materials’ fund.
